3 Allocation of Coal block exclusively for the Union Territory of Puducherry  Electricity  The Chief Minister, Government of Puducherry has requested the Ministry of Coal for allocation of Coal Block exclusively for the Union Territory to establish a Power plant at the pithead. It is understood that Government of India is intending to reallocate some of the coal blocks cancelled by Honourable Supreme Court to CPSUs and SEBs. The power plant is proposed to be set up in tie-ups with CPSUs like NTPC and BHEL etc. The power generated can be wheeled to this Union Territory to meet all our power demands, which will give a big boost to the Industrial activities here. Presently, the power demand is to a tune of 465MW, which is projected to grow to around 780 MW by the year 2021-2022. The present allocation of power from the central generating stations is only 388MW, where the normal availability of power is only in the range of 80 to 85 %. In order to meet the growing power demand of this U.T without having any restriction and also to have our own generation, it has been necessary to establish a power plant of sufficient capacity. 100
4 Pondicherry Beach Restoration through Reefs  Science, Technology & Environment  The Government of Puducherry have been raising the issue of coastal erosion with Ministry of Earth Science. Chief Secretary, Pondicherry has written a D.O.No.1067/EE/Ports/2013-14 dt., 14.08.2013. Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences visited Puducherry to assess the extent of coastal erosion and discuss further course of action on 06.09.2013. One of the decisions taken in the said meeting is to “ take up the shoreline restoration project along Pondicherry town as a demonstration project. NIOT will prepare the design for the coastal protection measures by December 2013. The tendering could be in March’2014 and implementation thereafter.” This was communicated by Secretary MoEF vide D.O. lr.no MOES/Secy/10/2013 dt., 01.10.2013. The GOP i.e., Pondicherry Coastal Zone Management Authority considered the concept note prepared and forwarded by NIOT in its 29th meeting held on 09.01.2014 and accorded in principle approval for the proposal and recommended to MoEF, GOI after obtaining all necessary documents from NIOT. NIOT Subsequently, constituted a committee for techno-commercial evaluation for the consultant for preparation of Front End Engineering Design Report(FEED) for management of coastal erosion along Puducherry Coast. On 21-07.2014 and on 21.09.2014 Chief Secretary, Puducherry requested Secretary , Ministry of Earth Sciences to expedite the project vide D.O. Lr.No. 171/DSTE/PCZMA/2014/393 dt. 24.09.2014. The Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences has informed vide D.O. letter No. MoES/Secy/10/2014 dt., 10.10.2014 that a tender has been floated by ESSO-NIOT for hiring of consultant for detailed engineering construction under offshore reef which is expected to be finalized by the year end by the NIOT. 30

14 Comprehensive Sewerage Scheme for the urban areas of Puducherry under JnNURM scheme  Public Works  The implementation of underground sewerage facility to the Puducherry Town and its surrounding areas such as Muthialpet, part of Nellithope, Mudaliarpet and Lawspet areas were carried out in various phases since the year 1979. It is now proposed to provide comprehensive sewage facilities to the remaining and uncovered habituated areas of various zones of Puducherry urban areas in and around Mudaliarpet, Nellithope, Lawspet, Thattanchavadi, Muthiraiyarpalayam, Moolakulam and Reddiarpalayam areas. This project anvisages collection and conveyance of waste water and treatment of resultant sewerage by providing 3 Nos. of de-centralised treatment plants, each having a capacity of 17 MLD of Lawspet, Kanaganeri and Duburayapet, to match the sewerage generation at the end of 10 years after completion of the project. 300.65
15 Tool Room cum Technology Development Centre  Industries & Commerce  MSME Ministry, GOI allotted one Tool Room cum Technology Development Centre to Puducherry and it will be setup by GOI. The foundation stone was also laid on 22/02/2014. The Tool Room cum Technology Development Centre will have state of art infrastructure facilities and business processes including latest machinery & equipment to design and manufacture quality tools, testing facility and for conducting training facilities programmers confirming to international standards. The tentative project cost would be Rs 100 crores. The UT of Puducherry allotted land to an extent of 10 acres at Kalapet, Puducherry. The land belongs to Education Department, Puducherry. The Education Department has been requested on 04/08/2014 to take necessary initiative to place the cabinet note before the Council of Ministers, Puducherry to transfer the title of the land to Ministry of MSME, GOI 100
